Our History

In 1997, the Nebraska churches of the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches (FEBC) begin making plans to plant a church in Nebraska.  After much discussion, Hebron, Nebraska was identified as a potential target for our church planting efforts.  The churches of Nebraska began to pray that the Lord would provide an opportunity.

Within the next couple of years, a local resident, Randy Gordin began sharing the gospel with friends in town and began a Bible study that met in the back of Matt’s Body Shop in Hebron.

In September of 2001, Pastor Jeff Friesen began driving to Hebron from Lincoln each week to teach the study.  In November of 2002, Jeff was commissioned by the FEBC as a church planter.  He and his wife, Wendy moved to Hebron in June of 2003.

In August of 2003, Hebron Bible Church began holding regular worship services on Sunday mornings.  Though the worship services were new, they were actually an outgrowth of a Bible study that has been ongoing for several years.

In the last eleven years, Hebron Bible Church has grown from a nascent church plant to a vibrant participant in the city of Hebron and in Thayer County.  We look forward to seeing how God will use us to continue to reach others with the gospel of Christ.
